Today for breakfast we had French toast.  After breakfast we got ready and went to Korah. At Korah we had the first day of summer camp with the kids. We sang songs, told them a Bible story, did a craft and fed them lunch.

This is the church we used for summer camp.

This is me giving these girls some crayons for our craft.

This is me and my shadow for the day, Tegest.

This is the wat. They put it in their injera and use the injera as a fork to eat it.  The injera is the bread on the plate.

This is Yergamachew meeting his sponsor, Miss Lisa, for the first time. He did not know she was coming.

After we fed the kids their lunch, injera and wat, we went to the bank and exchanged our money for birr. Then we went to the store and mommy got me a package of orange creme filled cookies and a Gatorade. Yummy! Then we went back to the guesthouse and I played temple run. Then we went to Tivolis for dinner. Tivolis has American type food. I had a piece of fried chicken, french fries and an orange Fanta. Then we went to another grocery store and Mommy got me a big piece of sharp Cheddar cheese. Double yummy!  She said that she wanted to make sure I was eating enough and she knew that I would eat cheese.

Here is me eating my cheese. Yummy, yummy, yummy! :)

After all our shopping we went back to the guesthouse and went to bed.

Today we rode on the airplane for a looooooooooooooong time before we landed. (It just seemed like a long time because I was too excited to sleep :) Then at the airport we got our visas stamped, got our luggage and went to find Mr. Yates and Ms Emily who were going to pick us up. Mr Yates' driver, Tesfaye (pronounced like "tes-fie"), took us to the guesthouse in a big van.  We couldn't take pictures inside the airport but it wasn't like our airport.  I was happy to get out of it.

We saw scaffolding and fences made of sticks like these everywhere.

We went to our rooms with our luggage then waited for lunchtime. For lunch we had spaghetti. It had sauce but it was spicy so I just ate noodles. Then Tesfaye came and took us to the Yates' house. We stayed there for like three hours then we left so we could get back to the guesthouse in time for dinner.

This is me on the Yates' balcony.

These are some animals we saw from the Yates' balcony. Can you find a donkey?  cow?  sheep?

For dinner was pizza: meat and spinach. You can probably guess which kind I ate :) The pizza was good but it had that spicy tomato sauce on it so I just scraped off the sauce. After dinner we hung around a while then went to bed.  I was very, very, very, very tired because I had been awake for 36 hours.  Mommy was tired too because she had been awake that long.  Tomorrow we finally get to go to Korah!

Today we ate breakfast at the hotel then went to our rooms and got all our luggage packed up and went downstairs. Uncle Shawn and Stephen got our big tubs and duffel bags out of storage while Mommy got me a postcard at the little shop in the hotel for me to send to Daddy, B and the twins. After I mailed my postcard we put our luggage in the hotel van and went to the airport. At the airport we checked in our luggage and went to our gate.

Uncle Shawn guarded our luggage while we stood in line.  There was another cart this full too.  There were alot of people in line.  It was crowded but we finally had our turn to check in.

At our gate we found Miss Lisa who had flown in that morning from Atlanta to join us. We waited at our gate for a little while then we boarded our plane. The plane was GIANT! We sat on the plane for a little while then it took off. On the seat in front of me there was a little touch screen TV.

It had movies, games, music, and a sky map on there. I watched Firehouse Dog, Angelina Ballerina, Flicka, Bob the Builder, and The Sound of Music.  I also read The Further Adventures of Ociee Nash and played Solitaire about a million times :) The plane landed in Ethiopia on Sunday morning.  We had been on the plane for over 13 hours and I did not sleep at all!!

This was the view from my seat as we were getting close to the airport.  I'm landing in Africa!!!!

Today after breakfast and everything we double checked all our luggage to make sure we had everything then we loaded up the van. A couple hours later we dropped B, E and C off at swim practice then me, Mommy and Daddy left for the airport. Some neighbors watched them while Daddy took us to the airport.  We found a Chinese restaurant near the airport and ate lunch there. Then we went to the airport and Daddy helped us carry our luggage in and get it checked in then we told him bye bye and he went home. After we told Daddy bye bye and he went home we went to where our airplane was and waited for about 30 minutes then got on the airplane to DC. It took a little over an hour to get to DC.

When we landed we found Uncle Shawn, Aunt Heather and Stephen and we went to pick up our baggage. After we found all our baggage we got on a van and went to our hotel in DC. At the hotel in the lobby there was a little pond with two swans in it named George and Martha Washington.

We said hi to George and Martha then got in a really cool elevator and went up to our rooms. We got settled in our rooms then went downstairs and found a place to eat and walked there. We ate at Noodles and Company. After we ate dinner Mommy and Aunt Heather went to the grocery store near the restaurant and I went with Uncle Shawn and Stephen to Starbucks. Uncle Shawn got me a vanilla bean milkshake sort of thing that was really good. When Mommy and Aunt Heather came back we all walked back to our hotel and kind of just hung around till it was time to go to bed. Then after I got my pajamas on and brushed my teeth Mommy let me watch the food network for a little while in bed cause I got to sleep on the couch bed :)
