Hi! I'm Hannah, I'm 14 years old, and I am planning to go on a mission trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in July of this summer. I will travel with an Ordinary Hero team led by my mom, Sabrina Freeland. Ordinary Hero is a mission organization that sends mission teams to Ethiopia all year round.
When I was nine years old, I saw a video about orphans in Ethiopia. They didn't have items like books, shoes, movies, and other things I enjoy every day. So, I decided to do something to help them. My parents helped me start SHINE, which stands for Sharing Hope IN Ethiopia. The year I was ten I raised almost $200 and sent it over to the orphanage from the video with a friend of our family.
I continued raising money for this orphanage until the summer of 2012. Then I started raising money to go to Ethiopia myself and participate with a mission team there. In July, I traveled on a team with my mom and some others to Addis, where we stayed for about 8 days. Each day, we went into a village called Korah, where we led Vacation Bible School type activities for a group of kids there. You can read all about this in the previous posts on this blog ;)
About September of 2012, our family started sponsoring a boy in Ethiopia, Temeche. We have been sponsoring him since then. Every few months or so we send him a package with things like letters/cards, pictures, candy, clothes, etc. Last year, when my mom went back for her second trip, she got to meet him! Hopefully I can go back this summer and meet him too! :)
